One of the most powerful ways we grow in trust and intimacy with God is by learning His names. Each name reveals a part of His character and reminds us of who He wants to be in our lives today.
Here are six of God’s names found in Scripture and what they can mean for us:
Jehovah Jireh – God Our Provider
“So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide.” – Genesis 22:14
When we feel uncertain about our needs or the future, Jehovah Jireh reminds us that God sees ahead and provides.
Jehovah Rapha – God Our Healer
“…for I am the Lord, who heals you.” – Exodus 15:26
God heals not just our bodies, but also our hearts, minds, and relationships.
Jehovah Nissi – God Our Banner (Protector)
“Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner.” – Exodus 17:15
In battles—spiritual or physical—we can trust God to be our covering and protection.
Jehovah Shalom – God Our Peace
“So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace.” – Judges 6:24
When chaos surrounds us, His presence brings deep, unshakable peace.
Jehovah Roi – God Our Shepherd
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” – Psalm 23:1
God gently leads, guides, and cares for us as a shepherd cares for his sheep.
Jehovah Shammah – God Ever-Present With Us
“…and the name of the city from that time on will be: the Lord is there.” – Ezekiel 48:35
We are never alone—God’s presence is with us always.
Each name of God is an invitation to trust Him more fully in that area of our lives. Whether you need provision, healing, peace, guidance, or simply the comfort of His presence, His name reveals He is already there for you.
